Charleston Engagement Photographer | Abby + Kyle’s Hampton Park & Rifle Club Session

Charleston SC Engagement session

As a Charleston engagement photographer, I’m always looking to tell real stories—not just take pretty pictures. That’s exactly what happened during Abby and Kyle’s engagement session. From golden hour strolls at Hampton Park to playful popcorn tossing on a dock, this one had everything: joy, spontaneity, and a whole lot of laughter.

A Relaxed Start at Hampton Park

We started at Hampton Park, a favorite location for many Charleston engagement photographers. It’s one of the best spots in the city to keep things relaxed and natural. Abby and Kyle walked, talked, and got comfortable in front of the camera as we explored the park.

Midway through the session, they popped a bottle of champagne. Abby got completely sprayed—which turned into one of the most hilarious and candid moments of the day. That’s what I love about sessions like this: real reactions, real joy.

Dockside Drinks at the Charleston Rifle Club

Next, we made our way to the Charleston Rifle Club, where Abby and Kyle are members. It gave us a totally different vibe—more laid-back and intimate. They brought drinks, hung out on the dock, and even started tossing popcorn into each other’s mouths (with varying levels of success).

As a Charleston engagement photographer, I love finding locations that feel true to the couple. This spot reflected exactly who they are: fun, easygoing, and full of personality.

Ending the Night at Container Bar

The session technically ended after the Rifle Club—but we weren’t done hanging out. We grabbed drinks at Container Bar, a local spot just around the corner, and spent the rest of the evening chatting and connecting.

This is why I love including time to just be. When couples know they can trust me, everything flows more naturally—on the wedding day and beyond. That trust starts long before the vows.

Why These Sessions Matter

Every Charleston engagement photographer brings a unique approach. For me, it’s about connection. I want your session to feel like a chapter in your story—not a photo checklist.

Abby and Kyle’s shoot reminded me why I do what I do. It was real, unscripted, and full of laughter. And that’s exactly the kind of energy I hope to bring to every couple I work with.
