Wedding Inspiration and Behind-the-Scenes
THE JOURNAL

Some wedding days feel less like a production and more like real life unfolding in the best way possible. That’s exactly how Khole and Miseal’s wedding day felt at Cactus Creek Barn.
Their day was laid back from start to finish. No pressure for perfection. No trying to force moments that weren’t naturally happening. Just two people celebrating with the people they love most while fully embracing whatever the day brought.
And honestly, that’s part of what made this wedding so memorable.

One of my favorite things about this venue is how much variety it offers without ever feeling overwhelming.
You have wide open outdoor spaces, quiet tucked away locations for private moments, and beautiful natural backdrops that photograph incredibly well throughout the day. It gives couples room to actually experience their wedding instead of feeling confined to one small area.
The property also works really well for couples who want a relaxed wedding day experience. Even when timelines shift or weather changes unexpectedly, the venue still allows the day to flow naturally without everything feeling stressful.
That ended up being especially true for Khole and Miseal’s wedding day.

Khole and Miseal were already married before this celebration, so this day was less about formality and more about sharing this season of life with the people around them. They’re also expecting their first child, which added another layer of emotion and excitement to the day.
From the moment everyone arrived, the atmosphere felt incredibly intentional in the best way possible. Nobody was worried about creating a “perfect” wedding day. They were focused on being present.
Even when rain kept rolling in every time we stepped outside for portraits, they never let it throw them off. We’d start heading outside, the rain would come back, everyone would laugh, and then we’d try again a few minutes later.
Instead of fighting the weather, they embraced it.
And honestly, that’s usually when the best moments happen.

Their outdoor ceremony setup overlooked a gorgeous natural backdrop that felt private and intimate while still having enough room for their guests to comfortably experience the ceremony.
For couples who want an outdoor wedding in Tennessee without losing that relaxed countryside feel, this venue does a great job balancing both.
It feels natural rather than overly manufactured, which fits perfectly with couples who care more about connection than creating a performance.
One of the biggest strengths of this venue is the amount of portrait variety you can get without needing to leave the property.
Some of my favorite spots from Khole and Miseal’s wedding included:

The field filled with wildflowers gave their portraits such a soft, natural feel. It matched the overall emotion of the day perfectly and photographed beautifully even with the changing weather.
The swing area added a playful and intimate feel to some of their portraits. These ended up feeling less like “posed wedding photos” and more like genuine moments together.

This was probably the most emotional part of the day.
They exchanged private vows near the creek in a quiet area away from everyone else, and the backdrop there was honestly stunning. Between the sound of the water, the trees surrounding them, and the calm atmosphere, it created one of those moments that felt incredibly personal and real.
This venue is perfect for couples who:
It especially works well for couples who still want beautiful portraits while keeping the focus on actually experiencing the day with friends and family.

If you’re planning a wedding at Cactus Creek Barn and want photography and videography that focuses on documenting the day as it actually felt, I’d love to connect.
